CESNET Large Infrastructure project starts
We started a strategic project titled CESNET Large Infrastructure. It is on of the high-priority projects focused in building large infrastructures for research and innovations. The project is planned for 2011 to 2015 and is going to build on an previous CESNET research project, Optical National Research Network and Its New Applications. Its goal is to further develop the infrastructure and services which we offer to Czech research and education community. Read further details in the press release.

Collaborative environments seminar
CESNET association will held a collaborative environments seminar on Thursday, 2 December 2010 (Prague) devoted to variety of voice and video broadcast technologies (from IP telephony to uncompressed high-definition video). Seminar will be held in Czech language.

Grid Computing Seminar 2010
Grid Computing Seminar 2010, hosted by the MetaCentrum (CESNET association's project) and Bull company, was attended by more than seventy participants. The main topic of the meeting was providing current and potential users with information on the MetaCentrum NGI activities in the Czech Republic and current trends in HPC at the national and international level. Representatives of the three largest Czech e-Infrastructure projects (CESNET, IT4Innovations, CERIT-SC) presented their vision of the Czech e-Infrastructure future in a panel discussion.

NEW: CESNET grid certificate available
CESNET TCS yesterday announced a new PKI service for the Czech academic community. Beside the personal CESNET CA certificate (TERENA Personal CA), CESNET grid personal certificate (TERENA eScience Personal CA) for authentication, digital signature, and data encryption in Grid infrastructure is available. Both personal certificates are now associated to the eduID.cz service.
The certificates are issued to employees and students of Czech universities, Czech Academy of Sciences, and any organizations cooperating with these entities in the practice of research, educational and administrative functions as well as computers and application services operated by these organizations.
Grid Computing Seminar 2010
Seminar of grid computing will be held on October 15, 2010 from 10 a.m. in the conference room of Masaryk dormitory, Thákurova 1, Prague. The seminar is organized by MetaCentrum project of CESNET association with participation of Bull s.r.o. company.
The primary aim of the seminar is to inform current as well as new, potential users of high performance computing about available possibilities for solving broad range of research problems and challenges at national and international level. The participation of top representatives of the most important, newly forming e-Infrastructures of the Czech Republic is also planned. Registration deadline is October 12, 2010.
